A Beautiful Garden Doesn't Have to Disappear After Sunset

At ETE Electrical Contractors, we believe a well-designed garden should be enjoyed long after the sun goes down. Rather than simply making the garden brighter, our aim was to create a series of subtle lighting effects that guide the eye through the garden while maintaining a warm, natural ambience.

Creating Layers of Light

For this project we combined several different lighting techniques to produce depth and interest throughout the landscape.

Feature Tree Lighting

One of the most striking elements is the avenue of ornamental trees. Carefully positioned LED spotlights illuminate the trunks and lower canopy, emphasising the natural shape of each tree while creating beautiful patterns of light and shadow.

This technique provides structure and draws visitors naturally along the garden paths.

Safe and Elegant Step Lighting

Safety is important, but it doesn't have to come at the expense of appearance.

Discreet recessed LED lights have been installed into each step, providing excellent visibility while remaining almost invisible during the day. The warm white illumination complements the natural stonework and creates an inviting entrance to the garden.

Highlighting Architectural Stonework

Natural stone walls are an attractive feature during daylight, but they become even more impressive after dark.

Low-level recessed wall lights gently wash the stone surfaces, revealing texture without producing glare. This subtle approach creates depth while maintaining the elegant character of the garden.

Accent Lighting Within the Planting

Selected shrubs, ornamental grasses and feature planting have been illuminated using low-glare LED spotlights. Rather than flooding entire borders with light, individual specimens have been highlighted to create contrast and visual interest throughout the garden.

The result is a balanced landscape where every area contributes to the overall design.
